Along the Costa del Sol to Marbella

Of course when you want to leave the office early there is always something to do. Which is exactly what happened yesterday, the day before my vacation. I wanted to go for a run, then pack and afterwards relax on the couch for a bit. I went instead to a mall, had a large ramen at the food court, read a bit in ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy‘ and relaxed.

Only then did I go home, having decided that my vacation starts the moment I leave the office. I packed until 10pm, finished the open bottle of wine (waste not, want not) and then went to bed an hour later as planned.

Still, I got up at 3:45am (just thinking about it makes me feel tired again), finished packing and took my cab to the airport. My friend Annemarie already waited there, looking quite disgruntled. Apparently she tried calling me three times and I hadn’t picked up. No wonder, my phone was still in silent mode. It turned out she was worried that I had been out partying. However did she get this idea?

A quick check-in, a strong coffee and a relaxing flight to Malaga put all morning stress behind us. We arrived in Malaga to a bright and sunny morning.

I have no idea what this is, but it’s the best picture of the ones we took from the plane. Plus it is somewhere in the region of Malaga.
Once there we got our rental car and made our way down to Marbella.

We arrived at the Vincci Estrella del Mar at 11:30 (we made a short stop at the market for water and beer), got a welcome drink and looked a bit around while waiting for our room.

The moment we got the room, we unpacked, changed and went to the beach.

The early evening was spent on the balcony, reading ‘The Hitchhiker’, sipping a beer and enjoying this view.

At dinner we sampled everything from the buffet (wasn’t that the reason for all the sort and dieting before going?), relishing especially the chocolate mousse cake with a small bottle of rosé. Then we went on to see the Flamenco show in the garden.

After a bit we decided to see the show from our room.

It was a bit sneaky of me to suggest it but I wanted to see the game last night (GER vs AUT soccer qualification for Brazil 2014) which was disappointing because we lost 3-0.
Yours, Pollybert
