Books

It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover: Colleen Hoover is a long-time favorite of me and her books are usually entertaining beach reads (there are of course exceptions). This one has been excellent again, I am just not sure if is the right book for the beach. It reads speedily the first couple of chapters but then it gets darker and the subject matter more intense. I can’t identify with any of this because I’ve never been in such a situation but it cannot be easy. Be prepared to need some tissues while you finish it, I cried a lot. Should be a must read, everyone needs to know their limit!

The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware:  it had enough twists and turns for me to be really entertaining and kept me guessing what was happening. The ending leaves me puzzled though and I am wondering if I have missed something. I heard it compared to the girl on the train and I guess it is similar, plot wise and overall style wise. In the end what counts is the entertainment factor and it succeeds in this matter completely. Finished it in a day on the beach.

How to Murder Your Life by Cat Marnell: Just in case you wanted to get a drug addiction, read this and you never will. Cat Marnell tells her life in a brutally honest way that I had to stop reading from time to time because I felt sick. I also had the urge to talk to other people about this messed up life. The book reads like a charm though and I had the feeling about being stuck in a bad dream. You are sucked into a vortex of self-destruction and you can only stand by and helplessly watch it.

The Nest by Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney: You should never count your chicken before they hatch. This is what happened: a dysfunctional family where the father leaves everyone a tidy sum. Paid out only on the 40th birthday of the youngest. When the oldest one has an accident and everything turns out differently, it is a shock for all involved. Loved the audiobook version, so entertaining to listen to. Pretty sure this makes also an entertaining read.
