Books

The Kill Order by James Dashner: The last one in the “Maze Runner Series” which is actually a prequel to the other books. I appreciate the sentiment to explain how the whole situation came about, but fails partly in doing so. It tells the story of the “Kill Order” hence the title but not much else. Still, I am glad I read the series and that I can now move on to something else.

I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson: Again a YA novel and what a lovely read. I can’t recommend it enough. The twins in the book are both artists, each one in its own unique way. The world one moment is bursting into colors and the next it is different shades of grey depending on the twins state of mind. So satisfying to read it!

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey: OMG, this book kept me up at night. There was just no way I could only read a chapter. I had to force myself to put the book away at night. The pace is incredible and the story just pushes you along. This YA novel about an alien invasion on earth kept getting better and better. Just whom can you trust?

Master of the Crossroads by Madison Smartt Bell: The second book in the series about the amazing life of Toussaint Louverture. Usually I am not so much into long-winded descriptions but here the insightful details and vivid character depictions put you right in the middle of history. It’s unbelievable what had gone on in this part of the world and that slavery was abolished long before the US. Vive la révolution! Great read if you are a history buff.
