The City of Mirrors: A Novel (Book Three of The Passage Trilogy) by Justin Cronin: The final volume of The Passage Trilogy. It kind of drags on I have to honestly say. The first half moves quickly but the fighting at the end just goes on and on. And then of course there is the ending after the end. Also the conclusion for some of the characters didn’t make sense to me, some had an open ending while others kept on going. Still it made for an enticing read and shows were civilization has gone wrong. Because even though this is fiction, some parts seem absolutely realistic. Maybe this is something we should think about. Is there a point in looking for eternal youth/life?

Paper Princess by Erin Watt: Another YA book and after The Passage Trilogy I just needed something different. As it is with YA books this is of course a trilogy. But to my regret I only had the first one on my e-reader. Because it reads in a flash, I finished it in one evening and a four-hour bus ride somewhere in China. I loved the characters Ella and Reed and just wanted to know how their story continues. Of course you can take offense by the obsessive “relationship” these two have and it is not something I would wish to have. But as a read it is enticing and just want to keep on going!

The Twelve Lives of Samuel Hawley by Hannah Tinti: The story of Samuel Hawley and his daughter Loo makes for an interesting read. In alternating chapters the reader learns about Samuel’s past and what happened with Loo’s mother. Growing up on the road Loo isn’t one who makes easily friends, so settling in her mother’s hometown is a challenge for her. I loved how the story developed and how you find out bit by bit what is the truth about her past. Being a teenager is already awkward enough, more so when you have the feeling there is no one to trust anymore. Not sure what the end was exactly, but a quick and entertaining read.

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover: Colleen Hoover is a reliable author of YA literature. Her books are always easy reads and I love her characters. The book was no different although I had problems understanding Miles troubles. I got what Tate was going through and why she stayed with him although he promised nothing (haven’t we all been there?). The solution to everything comes of course at the end and then lots of stuff made sense. Still I would have liked hear more from his side already throughout the book. Anyway, I am sure to read more from her when I can get my hands on it. As usual an enjoyable book.
