What else to see in Valencia

Besides the old town and the City of Arts and Sciences Valencia has a lot of other attractions. Like the beaches. A city with a beach is just marvelous. I know I am repeating myself but there is nothing better than a city with a beach.

The beaches of Valencia are only a short bus ride away from the center and offer a long stretch of sand on which, by better weather, you can lay down and get a tan. In case it’s cool but still sunny, go for a long walk. Walking along a beach is like meditating or doing a Pilates session. Whatever you do there though it will greatly improve your overall well-being. Beaches tend to do that. Prolong your stay at the beach with a visit to a cerveceria (pub).

Apart from the Mercado Central there is another beautiful steel constructed market, the Mercado Colón. It is also an Art Noveau building which has an open and airy facade. The market caters mainly to gourmets with its many restaurants.

If you have time take a look at the González Martí National Museum of Ceramics and Sumptuary Arts. Don’t think that the name is already a handful. Just wait until you see the building. I have never seen anything so richly decorated on the outside.

no wonder it is called Museum of Sumptuary Arts @Valencia

In case you are really into ceramics then the Horchateria Santa Catalina should be on your must-see list. The interior is lavishly decorated with painted tiles on the walls and on the counter.

And then make sure to just walk around with your eyes open to soak up the atmosphere. Valencia is charming with great buildings, lots of squares and parks. Savor the time you have in this city and make the most of it. Yours, Pollybert
