Pizza Senza Danza – Pop Up

Pop-Ups are popping up all over Vienna. No wonder, since this pandemic is changing everything. Pizza Senza Danza is aptly named. It is a Pop-Up in a former club. But there is no clubbing anywhere at the moment and the music here takes a back seat. The beat is funky though and fits with the surroundings.

The menu is small and straightforward. A couple of starters, five different pizza toppings, and two desserts. At least you don’t need forever to peruse the menu. Our table settled on the pizza ‘Bianco Piccante’ with ricotta, fior di latte, salami spianata, lemon zest, and arugula. We also got some olives for a starter and as well as the salad hearts with Parmesan dressing and anchovies.

The olives were super delicious and we got some toothpicks so as not to touch the olives by hand. Very obliging! The salad hearts were a bit on the disappointing side. There was only one anchovy on top. Why even mention it, when you are so stingy? And the dressing was nice but didn’t taste of Parmesan at all. At least we couldn’t detect any hint of the cheese. Overall it’s a good starter though on hot summer evening. Or a full meal if you are so inclined.

But the main start at Pizza Senza Danza is of course the pizza. The ‘Bianco Piccante’ was delicious and really quite hot. The pizza is in the Napoli style, soft and thick. I enjoyed it a lot more though than in Naples. That was a very tasty pizza!

Last but not least we shared a dessert. We got the chocolate tarte with crème fraîche and roasted hazelnuts. This sweet sin is worth every calorie. The tarte has an intense chocolate flavor, there is nothing subtle about this cake. Be sure to share it though, it’s super rich.

Pizza Senza Danza is a Pop-Up which you need to enjoy while it lasts. We all hope that the new reality will eventually make room for normalcy again. Until then, or until the cold weather comes in, I’ll get me pizza fix here. Yours, Pollybert
