Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson: I finished the book this morning on the metro and had to stop reading in between because I was crying so hard and people looked at me as if I was deranged. So be warned, this one is a tearjerker although the end is foreseeable. A coming of age story with some big hurdles. I loved it though and it was a quick and easy read.
Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll: What a book! So much to think about and such an unlikable character. The main protagonist, TifAni (yes, the name is written like this) never really comes across as someone I could relate to. Her choices are awful and she behaves like a cold-hearted bitch. But the way the story rolled out I came to understand what made her this way. Although she wasn’t any better before. Yes, there is a before and after in this story. However I don’t want to give anything away just that it was a really good book. Enthralling to the last page!
Jenny Lopez Has a Bad Week by Lindsey Kelk: Jenny is a supporting character in the ‘I heart series’ and this book or rather booklet is somewhere in between book 3 and 4 in the series (I am probably wrong about where exactly but am too lazy to check). The story is in the same tone as the rest of the series, fluffy and easy going. A welcome change to read a ‘short story’ instead of a book.
The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman: I have seen the books on bestseller lists and wondered what it was all about. Now I know why it was hyped. I liked it a lot, it was a very different kind of fairy tale. It made me think how much we are influenced by other people and not really free in our choices. But it also talks about love and what you can do for people you love.
