Party boat day! We had booked two seats for a tour to Tripitos, the Blue Caves and Antipaxos with a charming Greek captain and arrived shortly before the allotted time to get the tickets. The theme was classic cruises and I had no idea what to expect. So much better than to find out the Captain Yiannis was not only the captain but also DJ and chef.
We stopped several times around the island at perfect swimming spots and got fruits flung into the water to keep us energized while doing so much work out. Did you know that cherries sink in the water but that a watermelon looses its seeds (don’t know if it was just the salt water or if it’s always like this)?
All the while the sun was shining and the music was heaving. Although the crowd on the boat was a mix of mostly old, one family, honeymooners and us, it worked. We met Lili, a German girl who traveled alone and with her we enjoyed this perfect day.
Tripitos was so much smaller from below than it had been from the top. But we stopped here and could swim near it.
Our next stop was the blue caves which we could swim through. So amazing to swim through this small tunnel (please click on the link to see a video from these caves).
All the while Captain Yiannis entertained us with music and then offered sliced tomatoes and cucumbers and later sandwiches. So easy with a drizzle of olive oil, sea salt and oregano and the sun around us it just tasted like summer. A sip of cold beer and the day couldn’t have been more perfect. Yours, Pollybert
