Takan’s Delikatessen

Takan’s Delikatessen has been a staple on the Kutschkermarkt since a long time. Recently it vacated its restaurant on the lower part of the market and, since the new restaurant on the upper part is still under renovation, moved into a food truck across the new location. Takan’s Streetfood was born. I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but definitely not such a stylish food truck.

Recently I met with friends at Takan’s Streetfood for a relaxing afternoon, which included day drinking and sampling some fabulous seafood.

Astonishingly enough, despite the warm weather all of my friends opted for pasta. Maybe it was because we already sat in the shade and since the upper market area is still a rather open space. So the wind was moving and we had a nice little breeze throughout our visit.

Across from me stood a plate of chili pasta with shrimps, which looked very enticing. It came a little lighter on the spice, just as ordered and was delicious as far as I could tell. Not a morsel stayed behind.

The other two ordered spaghetti Vongole and both of them seemed happy with their dish. Even though I wasn’t in the mood for pasta, I have to say the food looked fantastic! The vongole portion was generous and way more than the usual decorating few pieces.

Unlike my friends I ordered marinated anchovies, which arrived on a bed of arugula and tomatoes and was topped with a parsley sauce. Very delicious and refreshing, with the addition of the salad it felt like a meal already. But of course I had ordered a second starter, since I didn’t want to go hungry.

Calamari fritti with a chili lime mayonnaise was a bit ambitious I have to say, the anchovies were already a big portion. But the calamari were sheer perfection and expertly fried. They had a nice crunch, but were soft inside. The chili lime mayonnaise had a great spice level and paired nicely with the calamari.

Service was friendly and attentive. The waiter kept up a constant supply of ice to cool down the wine. As I said, rosé wine always works during the day and the nice waiter kept us happy. Yours, Pollybert
