Breakfast at Eva & Adam | Cocktailbar | Cafe | Eatery

For every restaurant that closes a new one opens. Too bad I can’t remember what has been at the location of Eva & Adam before, to say farewell. But I am very happy to welcome Eva & Adam to its current location. Right next to the metro station and a stone’s throw from the hustle and bustle of the Naschmarkt, Eva & Adam felt like a calm oasis on that morning.

Instead of staying outside, we sat down inside and I loved how the sun shone through the window. Eva & Adam definitely has more of a bar vibe than a restaurant, all the velvet furniture and the big bar across the entrance make sure of that.

This appears to be a new concept, to fix up a bar and give it some life during the day with breakfast and small meals throughout the day. Who am I to complain, if there’s something new to try?

I ordered the poached eggs, which came at Eva & Adam in tomato sauce with peppers, chili, spring onions, parsley, feta cheese, and fresh sourdough bread. I loved the summery taste, quite sweet from the tomatoes and there was only a light note of chili in the back.

The cheese couldn’t have been feta though, otherwise it would have been way too pungent. It reminded me more of Manouri, a softer cheese and less intense. Personally I could have done with less cheese, I also like it better when the egg yolks are still soft and not completely cooked.

My friend ordered the ‘Heavenly Beef‘, which was a slice of sourdough bread topped with beef ragout, tahini cream, parsley, Parmesan, freshly ground pepper, and home-made herb oil. So far the description in the menu. It already sounded more like a lunch than breakfast and also turned out to be.

It was a really large breakfast and topped generously with beef. I tasted it and really enjoyed it. The ragout had an intense meat taste, but the parsley gave it a fresh flavor. The herb oil looked more like regular olive oil, which made no difference to my friend. As a carnivore he really savored his breakfast. I might have found ‘Heavenly Beef’ too one-sided after a while.

Overall Eva & Adam is a pleasant addition to the Viennese breakfast scene. The service was friendly and I enjoyed the food. Both portions were generous, appeared to be freshly made. I am not really sure how the place is in the evening, but it definitely has a good vibe. Yours, Pollybert
