Journeyman by Fabian Sixtus Körner: This took me while to finish, maybe because I wanted to savor it. Travel books have a great appeal for me. The more I read about traveling, the more I want to leave. This one is no exception. I love the way the author describes his tour, which he copied from the middle ages when craftsmen had to travel for a year before they settled down and opened their own business. What a way to see the world!
Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson: Just loved the book! Two young people drive from California to Connecticut with the obligatory love story on the way. Very interesting stops in between, makes you want to go on a road trip right away. What more can you ask from a book?
Panic by Lauren Oliver: It’s all in the title. A round of challenges and the winner takes it all. But before you have to overcome your panic which overcomes you just by reading about these challenges! Compelling story and characters, couldn’t put it down. Also from YA genre.
The 57 Lives of Alex Wayfare by M. G. Buehrlen: Interesting take on time travel, a love story with 2 prospective love interests and a story that pulls you along. But why is the ending open? Almost every new book in the YA genre is laid out as a trilogy and makes you wait for the sequel. This is off-putting as a concept and only tolerable if the trilogy is already out and I can read it in one go.
