Books

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling: Of course I expected great things from this book! It is a Harry Potter one after all. In the end it left me a little disappointed. I knew beforehand that it was written for the theater and was not really a book, but a script. Still I liked the beginning and the character drawing of the kids but from the second act on it only felt rushed. It was as if there was just not enough time to finish it in the style of J.K.Rowling. So although I like it because as a Harry Potter junkie I like everything in regards to him, it was not enough.

More Than Him by Jay McLean: Part three in the “More than …” trilogy and the final book on Logan and Amanda’s story. They really had the worst of luck in the world combined but together they can overcome everything. It gets annoying after a while that Amanda is so emotional and basically cries half the time while Logan who is the super stud also starts getting more and mortuary throughout the book. Still the sex scenes were steamy although even they got repetitive after a while. In the end I just wanted to finish it. but now I saw that there are two more volumes in this series.

Nerve by Jeanne Ryan: Apparently I started on another trilogy. I really should start reading up on that before getting a new book. Anyway, it was this trailer that got me interested in the book. The book is actually quite funny in the first half, fast paced and entertaining while the second half it became this disturbing and weird story. Still debating with myself if I should go for book 2. If you know it, let me know if it’s worth my time.

The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender: Rose takes a bite from a freshly made cake and suddenly she can taste her mother’s feelings in it. Everything that was going on with her while she was making it, went into the cake. Over the years the family history gets more and more complicated. And Rose is there to taste it all. It’s not so much about the food but about feelings that you keep hidden to the world. They come out in the open through a way you didn’t expect. Mix in it a bit of fantasy and you are glad that you don’t have any special skills.
