On a recent Saturday with fairly warm weather I ventured for breakfast into the Café Dommayer. Situated in the 13th district, in a beautiful building from the turn of the century, the coffeehouse Dommayer looks back on a very long history. Personally I prefer the garden in the back, on this morning though, the few people sitting outside had to make do with the terrace out front.

I ordered a hangover breakfast, which for me is a soft-boiled egg and buttered bread with chive. Apparently I couldn’t be bothered to take a picture, but I do remember that I didn’t like the bread. It had a sweet taste and didn’t work with the chive.
My friend fared better by ordering the ‘Pikantes Frühstück‘, a breakfast combo with little sausages, bacon, two fried eggs, a bread roll, as well as a glass of apple juice. The eggs hid underneath the bacon, but that didn’t change the outcome. Sausages for breakfast are always a winner!

The Café Dommayer is as traditional as they come in regards to coffeehouses. Even though it is now part of a chain, it still retains its charm. Honestly, breakfast is not a good enough reason to visit it, but if you are in the area, you can’t go wrong here. Yours, Pollybert
