A lazy day in Luang Prabang

After the excitement of the day before we needed another rest day. This was best done in the form of staying in the pool when it was not raining.

I whiled my day away with lots of reading, updating the blog a bit and then later hitting the center again with the bicycle. Only this time we came from the other side and traversed the night market with our bikes. Definitely not a good idea considering the comments of tourists and sellers alike. There was no through-way at all, just a very narrow path which was full of people. In between poles to hold up the tents and then us with the bikes. It felt like a walk of shame at 8am on a work day. Two idiots trying to get to the other side of the “main street”.

Still I got a good look at most of the stalls and I was already preparing my mental shopping list while ignoring the nasty comments (it’s not as if they were not my sentiment exactly). Lots of great things to buy for my friends at home. Dinner wise we tried another “main street” restaurant, this time one which had a blackout two minutes after we ordered. At least the kitchen had electricity so our dinner was not a problem. Astonishingly enough within in minutes of the blackout an electricity crew appeared and worked on fixing the problem. Which they did after dinner therefore my dishes look a bit dark.

At least the way home turned out to be easy after the night market disaster. Yours, Pollybert
