Not only is Budapest an extraordinary party location but also great breakfast place. Who would have thought? The Villa Bagatelle is a little bit away from the downtown but so worth the short detour (15 min by bus from the Chain Bridge).
The villa sits in the middle of a garden and offers an all day breakfast in its bistro besides a light lunch and pastries. You can also by yourself some sandwiches in the downstairs bakery and go for a picnic in the garden. It’s an absolutely delightful spot as indicated by the many families about. Therefore it is a favorite place of locals and expats alike.
We got a table on the terrace overlooking the garden front and sat down to order. All breakfast combinations come with fresh orange juice and a hot drink of your choice.

Besides a pot of tea I ordered also a lemonade. The different flavours sounded enticing and we just couldn’t withstand. Also the salmon breakfast lured us both. A poached egg comes served on rye bread with an avocado cream and baby spinach. It does sound heavenly, doesn’t it?

It also looks amazing with the herb arrangement around. And that was exactly the way it tasted. Light and fresh with a hint of softness coming from the avocado. Usually I love my eggs á la Benedict but a lot speaks for a lighter version in summer.
Service was friendly and very attentive. The manifold breakfast choices were excellent and let’s not forget the garden. The children had fun but were just far away enough to be seen but not to disturb the visitors. What a lovely option on a warm summer day. Certainly a place I want to visit again. Yours, Pollybert
