We actually had a different plan but my friend vetoed it due to the absolutely boring menu. Fine, I can be spontaneous when the situation demands it. So we ended up at Café Pierre, a French bistro near Mariahilfer Straße. Café Pierre has a large patio for outdoor seating, which is essential in times like these.
We found us a table in the shade and perused the long if quintessential also boring menu. Maybe I am already a bit spoiled, but at least an avocado bread or something similar should be on the menu. Even by calling the dishes in their French names, it didn’t really get any more interesting. My friend ordered the Petit – Dejéuner Végétarien which was a vegetable omelette with baguette, while I went for the Petit – Dejéuner Pierre. The Pierre breakfast included scrambled eggs with herbs, grilled vegetables, tomatoes with mozzarella, as well as feta.
The breakfasts themselves were actually quite okay. I didn’t know that I liked antipasti for breakfast, but except for the bland tomatoes this was very tasty. Too bad really since at this time of the year the tomatoes are ripe.
Overall a very decent breakfast if not with a really exciting fun factor. But sometimes you might want to have just something straight forward. Of course Café Pierre offers croissants and pain au chocolate as well for breakfast. Not sure how they taste though. Anyway, this was a good meal if not terrible exciting. Yours, Pollybert
