Mit anderen Augen: Wie ich durch meine Tochter lernte, die Welt neu zu sehen by Fabian Sixtus Körner: Almost six years ago I read his story about traveling the world. In between the world has changed and he as well. He now with his girlfriend and daughter who was born with Down syndrome. Reading the author’s words about that first night in the hospital are heart-wrenching. It’s what comes after, this joy for life and his beautiful family, that make this book truly special.

The One (The Selection 3.0) by Kiera Cass: I am glad I kept reading because unlike so many other trilogies, book 3 of ‘The Selection’ got a lot better. There was more action but also the characters finally made some development and almost acquired three dimensions. It’s still not a great series, there truly are better ones out there, but it’s a quick and easy read. If that is what you are looking for, then ‘The Selection’ is something for you.

Die Ärztin – Eine unerhörte Frau by Sabine Fisch: This books packs a lot of story within its covers. Amelie is among the first women to study medicine in Berlin in 1908. This brings great joy, but also a lot of challenges. As well as her dream to work as a surgeon. Next to the educational dramas, she also faces personal tragedies. Honestly, she doesn’t have an easy life despite her parents being well off. I really liked reading about it all though, it’s very fluently written and you just want to know what happens next.

The Heir (The Selection 4.0) by Kiera Cass: Not really sure why this trilogy turned into a five book series with a couple of novellas. But here we go, I am officially on book 4. It turns out the heir is the daughter of America and Maxim and with twenty she is now old enough for a selection of her own. One wonders if the parents haven’t learned anything. Never mind though, there is only one more book in this series and I am going to finish it. Eadlyn is an okay character, so I look forward to her finishing the series on a high note.
