The last time I had breakfast The Guesthouse it was still called The Guest House. But four years is a long time and much can change. This time we didn’t sit outside due to the cool weather but instead got a table between lots of hotel guests and locals. The Guesthouse is busy on the weekend and a reservation is recommended (we arrived at 9am with a time limit of two hours for our table). The breakfast menu is longer and more varied, with a couple of combinations, egg specialties, and individual plates. In the end though we settle on something very predictable. Egg Benedict for my friend and pumpkin seed oil toast.
On a slice of toasted sourdough bread rest organic scrambled eggs, a splatter of pumpkin seed oil, and some herb salad on top. It was pretty to look at and tasted really good. The toast though had already been soaked through and started to crumble upon cutting it. I couldn’t eat it together with the eggs, because it always fell off my fork. Still, together with whipped pumpkin seed oil curd, it tasted lovely.
The Egg Benedict this time was a winner. It was still only one egg, but you now have a choice to add a second one. The tomato pesto also still made an appearance, only now it elicited just a comment. Apparently it all worked well together and he said this might have been the best Eggs Benedict he has ever had. So I can’t verify that, but leave you with this recommendation.
Service was friendly and fairly quick. Even though the restaurant was full there was enough space between the tables for some privacy. Overall a very pleasant visit. Yours, Pollybert
