I have written a couple of reviews of most places we went for dinner while driving around in Normandy. But for everything else I snacked on or enjoyed during this trip, please keep on reading. We had dinner in Caen at Horace (Le P’tit B) and Le Chef et Sa Femme, in Honfleur at Le Lingot, in Étretat at Dormy House. Yours, Polybert
Normandy, the land of cheese and Calvados, had some delicious meals for us in store. Besides going for dinner there was also a bit of snacking done. In Honfleur I decided to give the ice cream shop ‘Glace de la Ferme du bois louvet’ a try.

Glace de la Ferme @Honfleur
It was right next to the port and had the most interesting ice cream varieties. Eventually I settled on rhubarb and salted caramel. It was to die for! Really great ice cream!

Don’t miss out on Cidre while in Normandy. The region is famous for its milk, and everything that comes from it, and its apples. Already on our first evening in Rouen we shared a small bottle of Cidre from the Domaine Duclos-Fougeray, which was excellent!

If you want to get a drink with a great view, check out Rotomagus in Rouen, right next to the Church of Saint-Maclou. Rotomagus by the way is the Roman word for Rouen.

Around the Church of Saint-Maclou there are many more restaurants and bars. It’s a really nice area to sit in the evening and soak up the ‘savoir vivre’.

We had dinner at Chez l’Gros in Rouen, a bistro which specializes on innards. But they do have other things as well. I enjoyed a couple of oysters for a starter and then a t-bone steak. The filet had been cut away and we were left with the sirloin. But it was tasty and as usual part of the menu.

Ice cream is always a treat and I got some at Amorino Gelato, where the ice cream is formed into a flower. It’s great to look at, but this chain store does not deserve your money. Looks aren’t everything!

not worth the calories @Amorino Gelato
Our last evening in Rouen we had dinner at Pascaline. While the first course was okay, I really enjoyed the generous portion of mussels with Camembert. For these alone a visit to Pascaline should be on your list. The mussels were delicious!

After Pascaline we went for one more drink at the Bistro Saint Maclou before we went to bed. No fireworks for us on this national day, since the next day we had an early train leaving Normandy. Yours, Pollybert

Don’t forget that when in France a sirop de Grenadine is always a good choice while still driving!
