Breakfast at Die Burgermacher

It sounds weird, no? To eat breakfast at a place called Die Burgermacher (burger manufacturer). But trust me, it’s indeed true. You can get something to eat there in the morning. From May on the restaurant has started with breakfast on the weekend.

Unfortunately it is not burgers. Because I quite like the breakfast ones at McDo even though I would never say that out loud. At ‘Die Burgermacher’ you get different open faced sandwiches and a couple of breakfast combos, even sweet ones, which include endless filter coffee (not my cup of tea). I opted for a sole sandwich, which comes in twos, with radish and a soft-boiled egg. Besides the filter coffee there are regular coffee options as in espresso, cappuccino etc. available. The espresso however appears to have touched the filter options because it was so thin. A weak brew at best, the crema meanwhile somewhere lost on the way from coffeemaker to table.

The sandwich was lovely and in combination with the cress very refreshing. Something I really needed on this already warm and sunny morning. Especially since there was no sun roof available. Which is unfortunate because the outside is not graced by any trees. I’m not sure how well this is going to work in the current climate. To end on a positive note, the egg was perfectly cooked though.

Overall I think I should give the place another try but only when it gets cooler. I don’t feel that the concept of a terrace on a treeless street without a sunshade is healthy in this weather. Also it doesn’t encourage me to eat anything. The coffee though I will give a wide berth. It was definitely not potable. Yours, Pollybert
