Ignaz & Rosalia is the coffee house next door to its bakery, Hüftgold. The bakery came first, selling delicious cakes, and later on the coffee house opened. While I have known the cakes for a while, this was my first visit to Ignaz & Rosalia.
A reservation did not seem necessary before, but we were lucky to get a table. So you might want to consider making one before heading there. The market stall has a couple of tables outside, and we were happy to seat ourselves.

The menu is quite small, so it was not hard to decide on something. I ordered the Kaffeehaus Kutscher, which was a savory muffin trilogy, while my friend decided on the Marktfrühstück.
Coffee was brought out quickly, although the Americano looked quite thin and tasted that way too.

The three muffins arrived on a bed of generic iceberg salad, which was at least marinated. The muffins, on the other hand, looked lovely and golden. Each one had a different taste, one with egg, another with vegetables, and the last one with sausage.
I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed them. Fluffy, savory, and small enough to eat all three. They arrived warm, and the salad worked well with them. An interesting breakfast and, even better, something different. The accompanying bread was not needed at all in my opinion.

The Marktfrühstück looked totally different and was a huge portion. Divided into seven little bowls, it was more than generous. There were two different kinds of cheese, a hard one and feta, Croatian sausage, a dolmadakia, hummus, and olives, as well as whipped butter and baguette.
I am not sure what the whipped butter was doing here, but the rest was very much welcome. My friend loved it and finished everything. Furthermore, he does not have the same issue with whipped butter as I do, so for him it was all really fine.

Ignaz & Rosalia is a wonderful litte confectionary at the Meidlinger Markt. While the menu is short, the available dishes are great. And if you are in the mood for something sweet, the almond croissant I saw inside looked fabulous. It is great to see that the area around the market is full of promising restaurants.
