Breakfast at Point of Sale

Point of Sale looked rather dark when we arrived that Saturday morning. But the lights went on once we entered and we sat down in the front area which has big windows looking out onto the grey morning. I am glad the place was empty and we got the table with two benches, because the stools didn’t look comfortable.

The breakfast menu is long and there are many different combos. My friend went for the bagel breakfast while I wanted to give the Mexican breakfast a try. When the dishes arrived we were both astonished. It all looked rather deconstructed. I mean the bagel breakfast sounded promising with smoked salmon, blackberry-horseradish dip, onions, capers, scrambled eggs, and cheese. Who would have thought that each bagel half came with a different topping?

We also wondered what the mission of the pile of arugula in the middle of this mess was. Yeah, my friend was not impressed and didn’t like it.

Really too bad that the Mexican breakfast didn’t fare any better either. Maybe if the red rice and the refried beans hadn’t been so lukewarm my opinion would be different. But there was also the problem with the lack of spice. Whatever it was, these were not Huevos Rancheros. That was the Austrian version of beans with a fried egg on top.

Service was very friendly and our breakfast dishes arrived fairly quickly. But let’s not kid ourselves here, this is just not a great place to begin your weekend. Yours, Pollybert
