The Christmas Wish by Lindsey Kelk: As much as I enjoyed the Christmas Fling, this one was a bit of a bore. It is basically the ‘Groundhog Day’ meets a ‘Friends-to-Lovers’ trope, and there were only so many repetitions of Christmas Day I could bear. There were some side events I really enjoyed, like Manny and the Scottish butcher, but until then Gwen’s story dragged along. Luckily, she eventually found a way out and her happy ending.
A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas: Book two was so much better than book one. I almost can’t believe I am writing this, especially since the first book was good enough to keep me going. The chemistry and banter between Feyre and Rhysand are off the charts now. I love how these two interact with one another and have the support Rhysand’s ‘family’ in Velaris. Of course I started immediately with book three, because this one ended on a cliffhanger and I needed to know what happens next.
A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas: I kmow I am late to the game, but this series is amazing. Why was the first one weaker than the second and third? Usually it is the other way around, but book three was again a stellar experience. The threat from Hybern and the Cauldron has been brewing since book two and finally they all face it. While fighting is not really my thing, it has its justification. Especially as Feyre develops more and more abilities. Anf honestly, who wouldn’t want to learn how to fly? There is one more book in the series, plus the companion novel. I don’t know what to expect yet, but I will definitely keep reading. It’s always a good sign when I haven’t watched TV in a while.
A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas: So far this is the shortest book in the series, and it doesn’t continue with the same intensity as book two and three. Instead, it focuses more on accepting what happened in the previous book and dealing with the aftermath. Both on a personal as well on level of the realm. There is also a slight preview of what can be expected for Feyre and Rhysand, but I am really just waiting for the story of Nesta and Cassian. I liked that this book gave me a bit of a breather so I could finish something else in between, because the two before had me ompletely glued to them.
