Snacks along the way in London

Although I went for dinner each evening, I could not live on just that. So while out in London I needed a snack from time to time. While I tried to be moderate as not to spoil my appetite, some little things were a must from which I could not walk away from. Take a look and make your pick. Yours, Pollybert

I stopped at Fair Shot around Covent Garden for a sandwich and a lemonade and loved the idea behind it. It is so important to give young people with learning disabilities an opportunity to train in the hospitality field. With this training they have a better chance to fend for themselves later on to not depend on someone else.

The social enterprise café makes very tasty sandwiches and I enjoyed my lemonade.

Breakfast at St. John’s Notting Hill café happened by chance and was so lovely. The Turkish eggs were perfectly cooked and the bread nicely toasted. The atmosphere in the garden of the church was truly unique. What a nice experience!

At Holland Park café I rested for a short while and ordered myself a cream tea. There is nothing better in the afternoon than tea and a scone. I loved the park atmosphere, but overall it is not a place I would come back for. It is conveniently located and that is its main draw.

I came to Broadway Market in Hackney to look for a scallop sandwich. This market is a quite far from all the touristy stuff, so it was lovely mingling with the locals and enjoying a coffee in a regular place.

I eventually settled on the breakfast version of a Scotch egg. The soft boilt egg was lovely coated in a layer of breakfast sausage before being fried to a golden color. Served with hot mustard, this was a delicious snack.

Although this rhubarb custard and match was only a drink, it felt rich like a meal. Especially since I also got a cookie with it. I bought it at Blank Street and sat down with it at St. Dunstan in the East.
